FAITH AND THE CONSTITUTION
My faith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is big on the constitution because it promotes and protects gospel principles.

Our rights are truly God given.

A quote from our founder about the constitution:
“May those principles, which were so honorably and nobly defended, namely, the Constitution of our land, by our fathers, be established forever.”

We also honor those involved in producing that inspired document of our freedom and liberty as great men. Flawed men? You bet, just as we all are, but men who were divinely inspired and did great things for the cause of freedom and liberty.

Just look at the fruits of their labors.

I also like that we stick to teaching gospel principles and not politics. Every election we hear from the leadership of the church that the church is politically neutral but "Latter-day Saints as citizens are to seek out and then uphold leaders who will act with integrity and are wise, good, and honest. Principles compatible with the gospel may be found in various political parties."

The vast majority of members of my faith thank God that we live in such a country, honor and uphold the constitution that we believe is a great gift directly from God.

Amen. I get super frustrated with some of my LDS friends who don't like politics so decide to "stay-out-of-it"...which means not voting, not getting involved, and eventually losing certain rights because they just stand by and do nothing...for the love! I love that the first presidency urges us to get involved. So important!

very nice! i get so upset when people complain that the church is doing such and such politically... when really it's just that the members are doing what they believe is right, not the church forcing them into it. grr. apparently we need separation of church and individuals IN the church :)
